What happens if I find an idea that I’m interested in on IdeaJudge?
You should take the following steps:
- Read the patent application covering the idea. A link is provided to enable you to access the patent application directly.
- Study the claims to determine what protection the patent applicant is seeking.
- See if you can make improvements to the idea without infringement of the claims.
- If you cannot improve the idea, and file your own new patent application, you must contact the inventor(s) or the patent attorney who filed the application on behalf of the inventor(s) to find out if you can obtain the commercial rights to the idea. The address details are given in the patent application.

What do I do if I want to invest in an idea I see on IdeaJudge?
You can contact the inventor(s) or the patent attorney who filed the application on behalf of the inventor(s) to find out if you can invest in the idea. The address details are given in the patent application.
What if I come up with a new idea or improve someone else’s idea?
We recommend that you consult a patent attorney to assist you in filing a patent application to cover your idea, or improvement to an existing idea. If you make an improvement to another person’s idea, you may be able to obtain patent protection for your improvement.
Can I submit ideas to IdeaJudge?
Sure. As long as it’s covered by a patent or a published patent application, for example, a PCT, or a USA or a European patent application, or a patent application at another county’s patent office. Ideas submitted are published at the discretion of IdeaJudge.
